Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

JMT Sanitation wants everyone to be able to check their address, sign up for pickup, and get help on this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification, or zoom. We work to make the site accessible and to keep it that way as it changes.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the international standard for web accessibility, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some content does not fully meet the standard: the pages we built were designed and tested to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and the exceptions are the interactive maps listed under Known limitations.

How we checked

This website was evaluated on September 29, 2026 by Chamberlin Design, the company that built it (a self-evaluation):

  • Automated testing with axe, the accessibility testing engine from Deque Systems, against every WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA rule it checks, on every type of page, on a computer and a phone.
  • Hands-on checks of keyboard use, visible focus, color contrast, zoom and reflow down to a 320 pixel wide screen, form labels and error messages, and moving content.

What we did

  • A Skip to content link, clear headings, and page landmarks so you can move around quickly.
  • Every page works with a keyboard, with a visible outline on whatever you are on.
  • Text and buttons meet the WCAG color contrast levels. We deepened our pink so white text on pink buttons and pink links on white are easy to read.
  • Pinch to zoom works on phones, and pages still work when zoomed to 200% or on a small screen.
  • Form fields have labels, clear error messages, and autofill.
  • The moving customer reviews have a Pause button, stop while you hover or use the keyboard in them, and stay still if your device asks for less motion.

Known limitations

  • Maps. The service area map and the Pink Bag store map come from Mapbox and are hard to use without a mouse or touch screen. Every town we serve is also listed in text on our service area page, and the address check works with a keyboard. You can always call us to confirm service at your address or find a store.

Technology

The site is built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA, and relies on them to be accessible. It is designed to work with current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, and with screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, and NVDA.

Feedback and help

If anything on this site is hard to use, or you find something that does not meet these standards, please tell us. We will get you the information or the service you need another way, and we will work to fix the problem. We try to respond within two business days.
